I demand you stop being adorable.
The Hyperforce, as they appear in my ongoing fanfiction, The Light Brigade. (Act I
, Act II
) I plan to resume it in March after an approximately six month hiatus, so I did this to get back into the zone.
I took some creative liberties here and there, but tried to keep within the overall feel I've developed for the story. Right now they're just minor characters. I hope to bring them into a more substantial supporting role later on. Chiro isn't here because he's old and can't really do any heavy lifting anymore, plus the team's mostly disbanded, only getting together when something big's about to go down.
Most friendship dynamics are not perfect, though, so he's a brief summary on what's going on.
Nova's a general, and she reminds everyone of this. It isn't an honourary title. She earned it through being awesome. She maintains an on-off relationship with Sprx, but they've grown much more distant since the war ended for various reasons. Both of them secretly hope to rekindle their relationship, but things are too crazy right now for them to be worrying about it. Nova runs a dojo that would make her old master proud, though she also dabbles in politics. She's become pretty much “the face” of the Hyperforce because she's the most involved with the human population.
Sprx is a rebel and I keep expecting him to rise up and fill Chiro's role as leader, not Antauri. I don't think Antauri ever desired leadership, only to guide those with leadership potential. Unfortunately Sprx and Antauri aren't really getting along. Currently estranged from the remainder of the old team, Sprx partakes in a lot of typical rebellious stuff, promoting the fight back against Skeleton King. Despite all this, Sprx has greatly matured, no longer idly bickers, and takes other people's feelings into greater consideration.
Antauri's still Antauri. The rest of the team agrees there's something off-colour about him now, like he isn't fully in sync with the world. Still, he struggles to be a peacemaker in violent times and is afraid that their frail team structure is falling apart. On the side he's become the Grand Master of the Veran Mystics – though this is largely unknown to many of the Verans, themselves. It's kept a secret in order to protect both the order and Antauri, himself, so to the public eye, the role of the Grand Master is a position shrouded in a lot of obligatory mystery.
Otto has changed the least. He's always off in his own world and often finds himself stuck in between some sort of argument he somehow manages to break up. While he acknowledges that everyone has gone their own ways, he misses everyone being together. His relationship has strengthened with Gibson and he feels an innate need to protect him.
Gibson was the most emotionally drained by the war and has only managed to move on by distracting himself from unresolved feelings through focus on research and teaching. His stubbornness is both his undoing and his strength. Gibson secretly aids Sprx in his efforts by providing him with valuable supplies and information (and tending to his injuries whenever he does something stupid and gets hurt). Though he just pretends it's aggravating.
...In other words, things aren't going so well for the Hyperforce.
But if they were going well, we wouldn't have a story.
I experimented a lot and played around with a lot of things...Lots of fun. I'm still trying to find my footing after not drawing anything for a year.
I still need an icon...
